“ The death rate of homeless people is three times higher than the rest of the population.
This figure is even higher in the case of women and young people”
Homeless people suffer from more severe diseases and have more difficulties to take care of their health.
The health system is conceived for people with a home were they can heal and look after themselves. When you live on the street it is very complicated to follow a treatment or have medical care.
SUFFER FROM SEVERE ILLNESSES
YEARS LESS OF LIFE EXPECTANCY
HAVE TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE
We urgently need to develop projects guaranteeing the health of homeless people whilst they are in this situation. Our commitment is to generate health and care spaces where people may heal and recover physical and psychological health problems, as they start the process to recover emotionally and they can then join the social and labour environment.
The effects of living without protection and the security of a home is devastating for the health of homeless people.
An urgent action is needed.
